Happy Birthday Emily Kate

Another year has gone by.
My sweet little Emily is four now.
I feel like it was yesterday when I would rock her to sleep in the church nursery.
Man, I miss that little baby girl!
Now, little Emi is cutest, most talkative girl I have ever met!
She is so funny and so sweet.
Her hugs melt my heart.
But, I still miss that innocent little baby...

This year, Emily decided she wanted Strawberry Shortcake's house for her birthday cake.
Here's how it turned out!

Don't you just want to open the door and go inside??

Emily loved her cake!! She just stared at it forever! So sweet!!

Here is the inside...

Her favorite color is pink :)

Here is the MacHarg family this past Halloween. I love all five of them so much!!!
That's right!! I said FIVE!!! In August, there will be another little baby MacHarg!!!
I am so excited for Heather and Skip!!

Here is a funny story about how I found out about this new addition:

The MacHarg's had been gone for a few weeks in Atlanta over Christmas. They are originally from Atlanta (where sister #3 now lives) and moved out here for Skip's job at Chick-fil-A.
When they came home, Heather asked me to babysit. I came over and Heather was already gone taking Connor to school, so I didn't get a chance to talk to her. (I'm assuming this is why I didn't already know about the baby ;) right Heather?)
I played with Emily for a while and then took her to school and went on to pick Connor up from Kindergarten.
As we're getting in the car and chatting, Connor nonchalantly says,
"Hey, did you know mommy's having a baby?"
Me: "What! Are you serious!?"
Connor--very casually: "Yeah, she really is. I think she's like nine weeks or something."
Me: "Seriously!!?? Connor, I don't think you're supposed to be telling people that."
This was followed with lots of excitement and the six year old shaking his head at me is if to say,
"Miss Kimmy, I don't understand why you are freaking out. It's not that big of a deal."

I love this family and I can't wait to meet the new baby!!

Happy Birthday Emily Kate!!!

12th Birthday Cake

I made this cake for a 12 year old girls birthday party. The top cake was a vanilla almond cake with vanilla buttercream and the bottom was a chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream. The cake wires are from Duff Goldman's line at Michael's, which can be found here. The pink fondant is also from Duff's line and it is wonderful! It is so easy to use!

Wedding Cake and Cupcakes for Grandma

I made these cupcakes for one of my Grandma's "Batty Broads" sewing meetings.  Every once in a while, she has a big gathering with her "sewing ladies", as we like to call them.  So, special cupcakes were in order for this event.  I'll have to do it again when she meets with her other sewing group, the "Sew and So's".

Baby Shower Cake.... very very late

I made this cake in February for a baby shower that my sister Kristina was throwing for one of her friends. The theme was "Queen of the Jungle" so I made the cake match the invitation.

I apologize for the lack of posting lately. A lot has been going on since February, all of which can be seen here

Happy Birthday Emi!!!

This weekend I made a Tinkerbell cake for Emily MacHarg, the sweetest little girl in the world! I have known Emily since she was 8 weeks old and today she turned 3. I cannot believe how time flies!! I had so much fun making this cake for her and celebrating her birthday with friends.  I babysit for Emily and her brother Connor (whose birthday cake can be seen here) along with many of their family friends. I love the MacHarg's so much! They have become like family to me over these last few years and I am so thankful for them!
Hope you enjoy the cake!!

I am really not very good at this whole blogging thing, but you should check out my sister Mindy's blog here because she is an excellent blogger :)

This week I am taking on two cakes and fifty cupcakes. One cake is a sports themed cake along with sports cupcakes and the other cake is a Tinkerbell cake. I am a little nervous to make two cakes in one week, so I am starting early :). Check back next week for pictures of my cakes!

Baby Shower Cake

This last weekend I made a cake for my friend Jahana's baby shower. The cake is a white almond sour cream cake with a strawberry filling. For this cake I decided to try and make my own marshmallow fondant because the store bought kind does not taste very good. Although I like working with the store bought fondant better, the taste of of the marshmallow fondant made it worth it. I spent the entire weekend baking and babysitting and ended up not having enough time to make the favors for the shower. Mindy came to my rescue and did a wonderful job on the favors.

Thank you to everyone who helped me last weekend! My mom spent over an hour cleaning the kitchen while my dad and I delivered the cake. Thank you for all your help!

Pretzels

I made these for a baby shower last weekend.  They were delicious!
Wait until you see the cake Kim made for the shower.
It is UNBELIEVABLE!

Happy Birthday Chris!! :)

Today was my boyfriend Chris' birthday, so of course I had to make him a cake. Chris is obsessed with diving so I decided to make him an ocean cake.

We went to dinner with Chris' family at an Italian restaurant in Seal Beach and had the cake for dessert :)

Happy Birthday Chris!!

Happy Birthday Connor!

Last week my little buddy Connor turned 5 years old and I was asked to make his birthday cake! I have been Connor's babysitter for a few years now and love his family dearly. Connor wanted his birthday party to be a Backyardigans theme so I decided to make all of the characters from the show out of fondant and gumpaste. This was my first time making any type of characters and I had SO MUCH FUN making them! So thank you Heather and Connor for letting me be a part of your special day!

Here it is!

And so Caramel Cup, please do not be disappointed anymore... I have finally completed my first post. (now if you could only get the other girls to do the same we might be able to get people to actually read it besides ourselves.)
