A Baby Shower Tea

One of our favorite things to do is throw parties for our gigantic family.  A few months ago, we threw a baby shower for our cousin at our grandma's house.
Here is the dessert table we put together for the event.
We had hoped to have the shower outside, but we weren't sure if the weather would cooperate, so we made the executive decision to have the party indoors.  This meant that a lot of rearranging had to happen.  Our grandma was very gracious with letting us do whatever we wanted.  She hid out in her sewing room while we moved all the furniture out from her living room and took everything off the wall.  We transformed the place into a tea party wonderland.
We made a variety of desserts for the event. That strawberry almond tart right there is the most scrumptious thing your mouth could ever eat. There were also cranberry scones, mini vanilla almond cupcakes with pink cream cheese frosting, sprinkled with gold glitter, and a lemon tart full of lemony goodness.
Once we were done decorating, the party began
I have to admit, the baby did outshine our desserts and decorations, but that's okay.
We can't really take credit for everything.  This event was really a whole family affair.
So, to give credit where credit is due:
-Thank you Grandma for letting us tear your house apart.
-Thank you Mom for running out last minute and buying us a shower gift that we totally forgot to buy...oops.  And, for doing all the other last minute jobs that us procrastinators needed done.
-Thank you Dad for carrying out our demands so cheerfully and using your manly muscles to maneuver furniture around.
-Thank you Dad and Aunt Sandy for making the AMAZING streamer backdrop.  It was one of our favorite parts.
-Thank you Aunt Betty for ironing my skirt so magnificently.
-Thank you Aunt Sandy for asking us to help and for forking out the money for us to play with.
-Thank you Bess Ella for being so stinking cute, even if you did steal our glory.

A Little Graduation Party Celebrating the Queen of Caramel Cup

Sister #4, Kimberly Joy, graduated from college in May.  Of course, that meant we had to have a graduation party.  Sister #3 was missing from the party.  Boo to living in Atlanta!   For the party, we put together a dessert/food table and made a little cake just for decoration. It's hard to believe the baby of the family is done with school for good.
We are OLD!

You can see a little more from the party here, and her actual graduation here.

Thanks for all the "likes" on facebook.  Keep spreading the word!

This little guy loves his superheroes, as you can see.  So, of course, he had to have himself a very special superhero cake.
And seriously, who could choose between Superman and Batman?

Have a Hoot

We recently made some desserts for an owl themed baby shower.  These were fun to do.  Kim and I spent hours catching up on all the latest episodes of Once Upon a Time while we made these.  This cake was chocolate with a chocolate ganache frosting, and the cupcakes were vanilla almond with a cream cheese frosting.

Groom's Cake

Kim was recently asked to make a groom's cake with a Cardinal's theme for a wedding.  The couple got engaged at a Cardinal's game, so the bride wanted to surprise her Cardinal loving hubby with this little cake.

Ladybug Birthday Party

This little blog sadly gets neglected a lot.  But, NO MORE, I say!  It's a new year, and we have new motivation.  We also have lots to post, since we have never gotten around to posting the majority of stuff we have done.  So, here we go with the first one.

A couple months back, we put together a dessert table for a ladybug birthday party.
We had individual strawberry shortcakes complete with matching pinwheels.
There were vanilla almond cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and a little chocolate ladybug to top it off.
And delicious little brownie pops dipped in chocolate.
The ladybug cake was strawberry with a white chocolate ganauche frosting.  Dangerous.
Kristina designed all the cute ladybug tags.

There you have it.  The first post of 2012.  Many more to come.
